Your paint records
You choose what to save, including label and receipt photos, reviewed text, room and surface names, paint details, purchase and painted dates, formulas and notes. The app stores those records on your iPhone. It does not send them to 5280 Labs or a developer-operated records server.
Photos and text recognition
The photo picker gives the app the images you select. The camera is used when you choose to photograph a label or receipt and grant camera access. Optional label and receipt text recognition uses Apple’s Vision framework on your iPhone. Photos and recognized text are not sent to us for recognition.
Planned App Clip preview
The App Clip is not publicly available yet. The following describes its planned data handling.
The preview keeps one paint record and an optional label photo on this iPhone in a private container shared only with the corresponding Paint by Room app. After installing the full app, you can choose to keep that record. The app retains the original transfer file and a completion marker locally, so deleting a record from the current library does not delete that retained copy. App Clip storage is temporary and may be removed by iOS or when you remove the Clip; it is not a backup. Apple manages App Clip distribution and purchases under its privacy terms.
Backups and sharing
You can save a complete backup or a PDF reference sheet to a destination you choose. These files contain the information you saved in the app and are not separately encrypted by Paint by Room. If you choose iCloud Drive or another cloud provider, that provider stores the file under its own terms. We do not operate the destination or receive a copy.
iOS may include the app’s files in device backups, depending on your settings. Apple manages those backups. When you restore a Paint by Room backup, the app keeps the previous saved file on your iPhone as a recovery copy. The next restore replaces that recovery copy; you can save it elsewhere if you want to keep it.
Deleting records
Deleting a paint record removes it and its photos from the current library. A recovery copy, exported backup, PDF or device backup may still contain it. Deleting the app removes its local library and local recovery copy. Remove copies you saved elsewhere from those destinations separately.
Purchases and support
Apple handles App Store purchases under its own privacy terms. Paint by Room does not request payment details or create a separate customer account.
If you email 5280 Labs, we receive the information and attachments you choose to send and use them to respond. Avoid sending private records that are not needed for support.
Contact and changes
For questions, email support@5280labs.app. There is no 5280 Labs account or server copy of your paint library for us to delete. We will update this policy if the app’s data practices change.
