SkyHigh BakingBeta

Version 1.0.0 is available on the App Store. This is the earlier 1.0.0 testing reference, not a current build receipt. Invited testers should follow their installed build’s TestFlight notes. Version 1.1, including its planned App Clip, remains in development.

What to test

What's included in version 1.0.0

SkyHigh Baking 1.0.0

This is the full feature guide for version 1.0.0. Use the checklist above to focus your testing. Report anything confusing, incorrect, or broken.

The conversion flow

Start at Home and choose Convert a Recipe. The app takes you through recipe entry, a review of the parsed recipe and its type, altitude selection, and the converted result. Back returns one step. Close exits the current task and asks before discarding unsaved work. When you open a recipe from a list, navigation returns to that list when appropriate.

Ways to enter a recipe

Type or paste recipe text, take a photo, choose one or more photos from the library, or upload a TXT, PDF, or RTF file. Photo text recognition runs on the device. Ingredients Only mode accepts a plain list, with each non-empty line treated as an ingredient. The app separates ingredients from instructions, recognizes common fractions, decimals, and measurement shorthand, and shows the parsed ingredients for review before conversion. If the text was read incorrectly, go back and edit it. A read failure gives an on-screen error and suggests typing the recipe instead.

Recipe type and pan

Review or change the suggested leavening (Chemical, Yeast, Whipped Egg, or Steam / None), richness (Lean, Rich, or Flourless), bake format (Small & Individual, Loaf / Thick Mass, Layer or Sheet Cake, or Tall & Delicate), and pan material (Light Metal, Dark Metal, or Glass). Suggestions are never applied without your confirmation.

Altitude

Use GPS altitude, enter an altitude in feet, or look up a US ZIP code or Canadian postal code. ZIP elevations use an area center point and Canadian lookups use the postal area's first three characters, so both are approximate. The screen shows the altitude band and water's boiling point, lets you refresh GPS or change the altitude, and warns at extreme elevations. The app explains invalid, incomplete, or unrecognized postal codes.

Converted result

Review adjusted ingredient amounts and tap a changed ingredient to read why it changed. The result includes applicable altitude notes; oven temperature or technique; rack and pan guidance; bake-time guidance; and the recipe steps with temperature and timing changes written in. Frosting, icing, and other recognized unbaked groups stay unchanged. Ingredients Only recipes show ingredient results without invented instructions. Save a result to My Recipes or open Report an Issue, which prepares an email but sends nothing until you choose Send.

Publisher's Favorites

The curated recipes can be converted for the selected altitude without entering their text: Double Chocolate Zucchini Muffins, Buttermilk Biscuits, Overnight Cinnamon Rolls, and Coconut Cupcakes. Some have separate dough, filling, or frosting sections. Unbaked parts stay as written. Each Favorite starts a fresh conversion, and its navigation returns to the Favorites list when appropriate.

My Recipes

Save conversions to this device. Reopen one as saved or recalculate it for the current altitude. Recalculation always starts from the original recipe, so adjustments do not stack. Saving again updates the existing entry. Swipe to move a recipe to Recently Deleted; restore it within 30 days or delete it permanently. If saving, restoring, or deleting fails, the app explains the problem and offers a next step.

Learn

Browse the high-altitude baking and cooking reference from Home. Topics include ingredients, oven temperature, pan material, cookies, pies and pastry, yeast breads, popovers and steam-leavened bakes, and boiling-point and stovetop cooking. Tap a question to open or close its answer.

Accessibility, device support, and privacy

The screens support light and dark appearance, larger Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, scrolling, and iPhone or iPad rotation. The approved cupcake app icon has matching light and dark artwork. Text entry has controls to dismiss the keyboard. Recipe entry, conversion, altitude lookup, and saved recipes work offline on the device, with no account or backend. The Privacy Policy link on Home opens the public policy in the system browser. Report an Issue opens a prepared email, and no report is sent unless you choose Send.

Not included in version 1.0.0

This release does not include metric/imperial conversion, web recipe import, iCloud sync, or sharing between users. These are outside the first-release feature set.

Known issues

Follow your installed build’s TestFlight notes for current known issues. Report anything unexpected with Report an Issue in the app.
