Version 1.0.0 is the current App Store release. Features marked as planned for 1.1 are not part of that release. If you use TestFlight, follow the notes for your installed build.
Frequently asked questions
Does SkyHigh Baking need an internet connection?
Version 1.0.0 works in airplane mode: recipe reading, classification, altitude conversion and built-in Favorites stay on your device. Planned for 1.1: refresh Favorites from a public catalog while online, keep cached and built-in Favorites available offline, and send a converted recipe to a paired Apple Watch for offline viewing. Cooking guidance, US/metric measures, recipe suggestions and conversion between recipe altitudes are also planned for 1.1; they are not available in 1.0.0. The planned App Clip will let you try a publisher recipe adjusted for your altitude before buying; it is not available yet.
How does it know my altitude?
With location permission granted, SkyHigh Baking reads your altitude from your device's location each time you get to the altitude step. It's used only for that lookup, never stored. You can also look up a U.S. ZIP code or Canadian postal code, or tap “Enter altitude manually” and type it in.
It says Location or Precise Location is off. What do I do?
Your altitude comes from Precise Location, since an approximate location doesn't include altitude. Tap Settings on the altitude screen, turn on Location (While Using the App) and Precise Location, then come back to the app and it tries again on its own. Or skip all that and type your altitude or ZIP code instead.
The text it read from my photo looks wrong. What do I do?
Go back to the recipe screen and edit the text directly. Fixing a misread line there is quicker than retaking the photo, and the rest of the flow picks up the correction. Unusual layouts, handwriting, or glare are the most likely to need a small fix.
What kinds of files can I upload?
PDFs (as long as they contain real text, not just a scanned picture of a page), plain text files, and RTF files. Word documents (.doc and .docx) can't be read, so open them and copy the recipe text into the app, or save them as a PDF first.
My recipe is in grams or ounces and some amounts didn't change. Why?
In version 1.0.0, the app adjusts volume measures such as cups and spoons; ingredients measured by weight may stay as written. The planned 1.1 update adds a US or metric choice and ingredient-specific volume/weight conversion where a reliable measurement is available. See the roadmap.
I deleted a saved recipe by mistake. Can I get it back?
Yes, for 30 days. Open My Recipes, scroll to the bottom, and tap Recently Deleted. Tap Restore and the recipe goes back into My Recipes exactly as it was.
Is there a subscription?
No. SkyHigh Baking is a one-time purchase with no subscription and no ads. Everything in the app when you buy it is yours, and updates to it are free.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes. One purchase covers iPhone and iPad, in portrait and landscape.
Does it support Dark Mode, larger text, and VoiceOver?
Yes. The app follows your device's light or dark setting, scales with your text size, and every screen is labeled for VoiceOver.
A conversion doesn't look right. How do I flag it?
See “Report a conversion issue” below. It's built into the result screen.
Is my data private?
Version 1.0.0 has no account, ads or analytics. Recipe entry, conversion and saved history stay on your device. Reporting an issue opens an email draft that you choose whether to send. Recipe suggestions are planned for 1.1: if you choose to submit one, it will include the recipe, a required contact email and optionally the first saved photo. It will enter a private review queue rather than being published automatically. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Report a conversion issue
Open the converted result you want to flag.
Tap Report an issue with this conversion near the bottom of the screen.
Your mail app opens with the original recipe and the converted result filled in.
Add a line about what looked off, then tap send. You can edit or cancel; nothing sends automatically.

Help test new versions
Before each update goes out, I test it with a small group of bakers through Apple's TestFlight app. Testers get the newest version before anyone else, free, for as long as they're actively testing. In return, I'm asking for real use: bake with it, try your own recipes, and tell me what works and what doesn't.
How it works
- You install SkyHigh Baking through TestFlight (a free Apple app) and get each new test version as it's ready. There's nothing to buy while you're in the program.
- Use it like you normally would: convert your own recipes, especially new ones, and send feedback with Report an Issue in the app or by email. Even “this one came out great” helps.
- Install the new test versions when they come out. Each one has a short “What to Test” note so you know what changed.
- If you stop testing for a while (no feedback or new versions opened in about a month), I'll make room for someone else. You'll stop getting new test versions, and the one you have stops working when it expires, which TestFlight versions do after 90 days.
- Being a tester has nothing to do with ratings or reviews. You're never asked to leave one in exchange for anything.
The testing guide includes an earlier feature reference. Use your installed build’s TestFlight notes for current changes and known issues.
